Apparition of Our Lady of Cuapa, Nicaragua, 1980
Nicaragua has suffered a lot due to political causes and natural disasters. In all the storms, the Catholic faith of the people and their great love for the Virgin has been their strength. The apparition of the Virgin in Cuapa occurs in 1980.
First Apparition
May 8, 1980 – The Blessed Virgin Mary to Bernardo Martinez, the seer:
The Blessed Mother:
“I come from Heaven; I am the Mother of Jesus […] I want the Rosary to be prayed every day. I do not want them to pray it during the month of May alone. I want them to pray it always in their families… from the moment the children reach the age of reason […] They should pray it at a set time that does not enter in conflict with the daily tasks of the home.
She continued teaching him and telling him that the Lord does not like us to pray in a light or mechanical way, and that is why he recommended us to pray the Rosary with biblical quotes and wanted us to put the Word of God into practice. She also told him…

Bernardo:
“Before the war we used to do it – we went to confession and communion every first Saturday of the month – but since the Lord had spared us from bloodshed in Cuapa, we no longer continue with this practice.”
The Blessed Mother:
“Nicaragua has suffered much since the earthquake (1). She is threatened with even more suffering. She will continue to suffer if you don’t change. Pray! Pray, My son (to the seer), the Rosary for all the world. Tell believers and non-believers that the world is threatened by grave dangers. I ask the Lord to appease His Justice, but if you don’t change, you will hasten the arrival of a Third World War.”
The 1972 earthquake, the most catastrophic in Nicaragua’s history, was an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 on the Richter scale that destroyed Nicaragua’s capital city.
Second Apparition
June 8, 1980 – Bernardo went to the place of the apparitions, but nothing happened. Our Lady appeared to the seer in a dream in which he saw Our Lady in the place of the apparitions. She pointed to an area of the sky and there appeared, as in a movie, a multitude of people in beautiful clothes. Bernardo saw in a dream four groups of people…
(First group…) Bernardo saw a large group of people dressed in white, walking towards the eastern horizon (where the sun rises), in a clear light, joyful as they went singing on their way. It seemed like a heavenly banquet. They were the first Christians, many of them martyrs. Our Lady said…
The Blessed Mother:
“Look. These are the first communities when Christianity began. They are the first catechumens. Many of them were martyrs. Do you want to be martyrs? Would you like to be a martyr?”
Bernardo:
“I didn’t know what this meant but I told Her yes.”
(Second Group…) They dressed in white with luminous rosaries in their hands. They were seen praying the Our Father and ten Hail Marys (Bernardo prayed with them).
(Third Group…) All dressed in a coffee color vestment, which seemed to him to be Franciscans.
The Blessed Mother:
“These (the third group) received the Rosary from the hand of the first ones (second group).”
(Fourth Group…) “There was a fourth group that was so large that he could not count them all – men and women with rosaries in their hands. They were dressed like we were dressed. Bernardo suddenly felt that he could enter this group, because they were dressed like him. They, on the other hand, like the previous (groups) radiated light.
Bernardo:
“Lady, with these I am goingg because they are dressed like me.”
The Blessed Mother:
“You still have to tell people what you have seen and heard. I have shown you the Glory of the Lord and this is what you will all obtain if you obey the Lord and the Lord’s Word… if you persevere in praying the Holy Rosary and in putting the Word of the Lord into practice.”
Third Apparition
July 8, 1980: Our Lady did not come to the place of the apparitions, but Bernardo had a dream that had to do with the petitions and requests that people made to him. In the dream, Bernardo saw an angel and the angel told him that the prayer he had prayed in the place of the apparition, where Our Lady did not come, had been heard. Bernardo, awakened from the dream, did as the angel commanded. Everything went as the angel had said.
Fourth Apparition
September 8, 1980: Bernardo was accompanied by many people, to the place of the apparition; and as usual, at the second flash of lightning he saw the Lady, only this time he saw her as a child. Our Lady appeared this time as a 7-year-old girl. She repeated the same message. Bernardo told Her of the church that the people wanted to build in Her honor. There was already a man who had given the first donation to pay for it. Our Lady told Bernardo not to accept a single cent in donations, for any use whatsoever. She said…
The Blessed Mother:
“No. The Lord does not want material churches. He wants living temples, which is what all of you are. Restore the Lord’s sacred temple. The Lord takes all His delight in you […] Love one another. Love each other. Forgive one another. Make peace. Do not only pray for peace, make peace!”
Fifth Apparition
October 13, 1980: Our Lady appeared once more in the same place… (people was doubting) […] Bernardo insisted that She let Herself be seen by the other people, so they would believe… Our Lady was saddened and started to cry…
The Blessed Mother:
“No. Not everyone can see me […] I am saddened by these people’s hardness of heart. You must pray for them, that they may change… Pray the Rosary. Meditate the Mysteries. Listen to the Word of God spoken in them. Love one another. Love each other. Forgive one another. Make peace. Do not pray for peace without making peace, otherwise it will be useless that you pray for it. Carry out your duties. Put the Word of the Lord in practice. Try to please God. Serve your neighbor, for that is pleasing to Him.”
Bernardo told her that he had a lot of things to ask of Her on behalf of the people. She answered…
The Blessed Mother:
“They ask Me for things of no importance. Ask for faith, to have the strength for each one to carry his cross. They cannot be spared the sufferings of this world. Sufferings are the cross that you all must carry. This is how life is. There are problems with your husband, your wife, your children, your siblings. Dialogue, speak with one another in order to resolve your problems in peace. Do not resort to violence. Never resort to violence. Ask for faith, so as to obtain patience.”
She told Bernardo that She would return no more… In reply, Bernardo began to shout…
Bernardo:
“Do not leave us, Mother!”
Our Lady calmed him with Her words…
The Blessed Mother:
“Do not be troubled. I am with you, even though you can’t see Me. I am the Mother of all of you sinners. Love one another. Forgive one another. Make peace, because if you all do not make peace, there will be no peace. Do not resort to violence. Never resort to violence. Nicaragua has suffered much since the earthquake and it will continue suffering if you all do not change. If you all do not change, the Third World War will arrive sooner than anticipated.
Pray, pray, my son for the entire world. The world is threatened by serious dangers. A mother never forgets her children and I have not forgotten what you suffer. I am the Mother of all of you sinners. Call upon Me with these words:
‘Blessed Virgin, you are my Mother, the Mother of all of us sinners’.”

Come, Holy Spirit, send to us from Heaven a ray of your light. Come, Father of the poor, come, giver of gifts, come, light of hearts. Perfect comforter, sweet guest of the soul, sweetest relief. In toil, rest, in heat, shelter, in weeping comfort. O most blessed light, invade into the depths the hearts of your faithful. Without your strength nothing is in man, nothing is without fault. Wash what is sordid, bathe what is parched, heal what bleeds. Bend that which is stiff, warm that which is icy, straighten that which is astray. Give to your faithful who trust in you alone your Holy Gifts. Give virtue and reward, give holy death, give eternal joy. Amen.

We willingly consecrate ourselves and consecrate all mankind to your Hearts; sure and confident, for your Great Mercy, to obtain the victory over the forces of evil in this world, and the eternal Glory in the Kingdom of God.
