Brothers, please convert, it's urgent! Don't waste time, it's urgent! Because many are waiting for great events little by little. No! The great events are going to happen in a short period, of days! All of them! And the Warning will come! [...] Let's trust in the word of Christ, and let's ask the Holy Spirit for discernment so as not to make wrong decisions" –Luz de Maria.

The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, 24 which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it” (Mt. 13:44-46).

4. Plenary Indulgence, general conditions

A Plenary Indulgence requires a person’s willingness to detach from all sin: not only repentance for past sins, but also a heart that is detached from venial sins as well.

A Plenary Indulgence is usually associated with a specific act, such as reciting the Rosary in a church or family, reading Holy Scripture for at least half an hour, or Eucharistic adoration for at least half an hour.

§5

5. What is an Indulgence?

  • 5.1. Meaning
To understand what an Indulgence is, we must keep in mind two aspects of the sin committed: Guilt and Penance.
  • 5.2. The Guilt
Guilt (acknowledged by the person for the sin committed) is forgiven by the Catholic Priest through the Sacrament of Confession.
  • 5.3. The Penance
The Penance (consequent to the sin committed and which remains even after the forgiveness of the Catholic Priest’s Sacramental Confession) is the effect (measured in days, months, years) to be atoned for in this life by penances or equivalent or superior acts of charity toward one’s neighbor or by the sufferings -in the oven- of Purgatory.

In simple terms, an Indulgence is the remission (partial or plenary -full- cancellation) of the temporal penalty due to God for sins already forgiven to the person in Sacramental Confession. Indulgences are a spiritual aid offered by the Church to reduce or eliminate this temporal penance. They can be partial or plenary.

§6

6. Brief History of Indulgences

The practice of Indulgences has roots in the ancient penitential tradition of the Church. In the early centuries, penance for serious sins was severe and prolonged. Penitents could be excluded from Eucharistic communion for years, and reconciliation was granted only after a long period of penance, such as fasting or pilgrimages. Over time, the Church developed the concept of Indulgence as a means of mitigating this severity, offering the possibility of obtaining remission of temporal punishment through acts of piety, prayers and works of charity.

During the Middle Ages, the use of Indulgences increased significantly, especially in connection with the Crusades and major works of charity. However, this period also saw abuses, such as the sale of Indulgences, which led to criticism and eventually to the Protestant Reformation. The Council of Trent (1545-1563) profoundly reformed the practice of Indulgences, prohibiting their sale and emphasizing their true spiritual purpose.

7. Brief history of the Pardon of Assisi

St. Francis of Assisi: «My brothers, I want to send you all to Heaven!»

photo

St. Francis, on an unspecified night in July 1216, as he stood on his knees before the little altar of the Portiuncula, immersed in prayer, suddenly saw a dazzling radiance light up the walls of the humble church. Seated on a throne, surrounded by a host of angels, Jesus and Mary Most Holy appeared in a sparkling light. The Redeemer asked His Servant what grace He desired for the good of men. St. Francis humbly replied:

«Since it is a wretched sinner who speaks to You, O merciful God, he asks mercy of You for his sinful brethren; and all those who, repentant, cross the threshold of this place, may they have from You, O Lord, Who sees their torments, the pardon of the sins committed».”

Jesus: «What you ask, O Brother Francis, is great, but of greater things you are worthy and of greater things you shall have. I therefore accept your prayer, but on condition that you ask My vicar on Earth (Pope Honorius III), on My part, for this Indulgence».

On Aug. 2, 1216, before a large crowd, St. Francis, in the presence of the bishops of Umbria with a soul filled with joy, promulgated the “Great Pardon,” for every year on that date for those who, pilgrim and repentant, crossed the threshold of the Franciscan temple.
